I don't really have a way in. My father in law got in using his stepdad for service affilliation.

Your wife may qualify as a child of a usaa member (father in law). All of our insurance is in my wife's name. Check it out.

Had State Farm for many years but they were not competitive when I showed them similar coverages and would not budge with rates. Don't mind paying a little more if I feel its worth it. Best rates I had on Auto was through AIG and now Metlife. Progressive was a little closer but still higher than AIG/Metlife. I ended up with Metlife now for 3 years now for Home, Car and RV. Could get a little better rate if I paid for a year. I think insurance rates vary by county so the rates will be different. Might try to tie home and auto to same company for a better rate.

State Farm all the way. Every time I had a problem, they fixed it with no questions asked.

Same here on State Farm with my auto and home.
But been with them 20 years, with new agent. When I moved from Houston, to Austin area 11 years ago. And when I added on home ins.
And no major increases in my premium...Even though I hit 2 deer here so far, in 10 years. With major damage done.
3rd one was 2 months ago, and had just dropped full coverage on my 99 escort. Crying or Very sad
But lucky was mininum damage, compared to other 2 I hit.
Have checked for cheaper auto insurance over the years, but know one can beet there price for me ((yet)).

Thanks, I am going to check on USAA with Big John. I hope my wife qualifies as it looks like she might.

RE: State Farm. I started out with them but they threw us off when we got married as it seems the little woman had a premarital lead foot with three tickets in three years so we refused to use them ever again for spite.

And my agent was a good high school buddy of mine too and he couldn't even prevent it.

Geico for our auto, have been real good for the past 5 years.
Progressive for Boat, and they seem OK.

Call Progressive and get a quote for your car too, they gave us a multi-car discount that made cost of coverage on my third vehicle $4.75 per year!

I had Geico when my truck caught on fire in the carport and burned up the truck and house along with everything inside. Took Geico over 6 months to pay for truck. Still fighting with Geico and Ford for house and contents. I will never have any type of insurance with Geico again... Maybe if they took better care of coustomers they wouldn't have to spend so much money on advertising. I feel they are just after your money and don't care about you.!!!!!

Woo Hoo! My wife qualifies and we are now members of USAA. They really don't want homeowner's down in our neck of the woods. The standard 400 - $500 homeowners policy that I had to have with the $1200 Texas Windstorm quote was 3000 bucks! So what I get for 400 to $500 was 3 grand and I would still have to get the TWIA for another $1200. But, the car insurance quote was unbelievable. I was about to pay Allstate 400 per month. For the exact same coverage USAA is 208 per month so that's 192 dollars per month I am saving!

Told you. Boat and life are also cheaper. Check out the credit cards from USAA Savings bank. Consumer reports rates them as the best credit card avaliable in the country. Also their car loans, home loans, etc.. are at least a 1/4 to 1/2 point lower than anything you can get on the open market.

Go to the website, punch in your wifes number, set up an account and look around.

i switched to Progressive with my boat and saved $200 a year. I went to AIG for my car insurance (2004 GMC Yukon XL, 2007 Saturn Vue, 2008 Mazda 3i Touring Sedan) all with full coverage. they cut my rates in half! i also got better coverage with AIG. My payment for all 3 vehicles is $100 per month!

Tyler, I know you will be satisfied with USAA. Nobody wants to cover windstorm down here. Actually, I have Allstate homeowners on the house we live in and USAA on the rental. The rental has fire only, and that is unbelievebly cheap with USAA. You should consider banking with them too, you can scan checks to make deposits. They have real low rates for loans and such, and they even shop and buy for you at wholesale on vehicles and boats. If you finance, it's easy....you negotiate for lowest price and they Fed-Ex you a check for the amount after your pre-approval and after the deal is made.

I've been with State Farm for twenty years and they have been really good to us. I have my cars and home insured through them and I have been really happy. We have made claims in the past and they have treated us really well. I can't seem to find any reason to switch to another insurance since they truly have been like a "Good Neighbor."

Good luck in your hunt for insurance. A cheap price up front may cost you later in the long run. State Farm is hard to beat in my case. USAA is here in San Antonio and I hear they have really good prices but I also have friends who deal with them and for some reason they are terrified to make a claim when they need to.
