What size hook and weight do you prefer on Sabiki Rigs?

If I am thinking about the same sabiki as you it has five or six little hooks on it alreay right? I have used them to catch bait and just used a 1 oz. weight unless I am in the surf, then depending on the current I will match the weight to suit. If you are going to make your own, just look at the ones already made next time you are in a sporting goods store and use the same size hooks they use. I know they are very small but dont know the size. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Vern. The ones I read about had six hooks. They are available in hook sizes 4 - 10. It's a bleeding hook.

Bob, What are you targeting?

That's the biggest question you need to answer. If you are targeting small bait, then get the smaller hooks. If you'd prefer to catch larger bait, get the bigger hooks.

I've caught everything from Rainbow Shad, to Pinfish, Whiting, Skipjack, and other fish that I couldn't I.D. on a Sabiki rig. It's actually just as fun to catch bait as it is to catch the game fish!

I also use a 1oz. weight for fishing in the surf with these rigs. Sometimes I will tip the hooks with a tiny piece of a fishbite, and let them sit. Other times I will work them like I would a Bass Assassin, popping the tip of the rod and then retrieving the slack.

Good luck.

Thanks, SQ. I want to catch bait for specs, reds, and possibly flounder. Would the 10 be too small?
