Well.... My lovely wife is having surgery Wed AM and she is in for a couple of weeks of bedtime and 4-6 weeks for a full recovery. I planned on staying home for most of FEB ... as in no fishing trips....
Yesterday, I had to run to the office to get a faxed pre-approval letter for a new car purchase for my son. I picked it and left the office. 2 blocks from the office a dumbass makes a left turn right smack in front of me as I am crossing the intersection at 30mph. APD ticketed him for failure to yeild ROW. As it turns out, the driver isn't the owner and the owner had no idea there was a wreck. And the damage is borderline on a total loss.
So now I have NO truck!!!! And I have no idea for how long. If its totaled I am screwed because the truck has 100K miles in just 3.5 years. I won't get enuf to even pay off the loan. And the other insurance company may not accept liability.
F@#@ ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least it happened when I was planning on a few weeks of staying at home...... _________________ GoinCoastal aka Cap'nSherbet |

Sorry to hear about your truck - bad freaking carma! Hope your wife makes it through her surgery OK. 4-6 weeks?? Sound like maybe a hysterectomy?? My wife had hers 7 years ago and the first couple of weeks were pretty rough on her. Hope everything works out. God Bless. |

We will see what happens. My insurance will cover me but with a deductible and a claim on ME. And the garage ruff estimate just looking at it was $8000. Once they break it down they will have a better idea. If is much more, chances are they will total it. I end up without a truck and a balance left on the note. Could be as much as 3 grand.... THAT SUCKS!!!!!!!!
I must say if you have never been thru an airbag deployment... well WOW!!!! It is wild. An explosion right in front of your face. I can see why they talk about children and small women getting injured. Luckily, my face was above the main part of the airbags.
When I find out what is going to happen, I will let yall know. _________________ GoinCoastal aka Cap'nSherbet |

That $*ck$ GC. If you feel like heading out on a Saturday or Sunday in Febuary, let me know, you can ride down with me.
Glad to hear your wife is recovering well from her surgery and that you are okay too.
If the owner gave permission to the person to drive they are liable. It doesn't take much to give permission under state law either, as I understand the law. Of course that is only one year of law school, but it is about what any attorney out there would know on the subject. If you know your car is gone and you know who took it, and do not call the police to report it stolen, you have in effect given permission via omission.
Anyway, I hope it works out for you GC. I know my insurance is set up to cover the replacement value or the loan note, whichever is greater, whether it is a comprehensive claim or an uninsured or underinsured motorist. You might check into that. Full Coverage Insurance really doesn't do any good if it won't cover you FULLY! Alot of the discount insurance companies are set up this way, where they only cover what the vehicle is worth. Most of the bigger names with have true full coverage, but you have to ask for it, and it doesn't cost but a few $$$ more. Well worth it.
Good luck GC, and let us know how everything goes. _________________ Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

| GC I know what you mean about the airbags. To me it felt like a full force hit with a down pillow in the face. Hope everything works out. When I had my accident the damage was around 8200, didnt owe but 8600, and they fixed it rather than total it. Couldnt beleive that. Two weeks later my wife totaled her car, pulled out in front of someone at walmart. Two at fault accidents in two weeks and the insurance didnt drop me and a little over three years later I am back down below pre accident insurance payments. |

| If I get a chance to go in the next few weeks, you can throw that yak in the back and head down. He77, you can throw it in the boat when we get there if you want and try a few lakes. Going to SA boat show this weekend to figure out which yak I want. Your due a great fishing trip after that stretch of bad luck. I'll keep a good thought for your family. |

| you didn't get the thing where you pay a little extra just in case something like that happens and they will pay the difference of what you owe to what it is worth. shoot i did as fast as cars depreciate now, unless you drive a jeep(high resale). |

I had never heard of Gap Insurance until yesterday when talking with the insurance company. I guarantee you, I will never buy another car without it.
They can't find the driver of the car. He did have permission to drive the car tho. He uses the owner's son's address as his permanent address and phone number but he doesn't live there. The son told my insurance company investigator "Good Luck finding him, he is hard to get a hold of".......
One bit of good news.... my insurance company didn't "total" it after first inspection as they thought they would do. The adjuster ordered a breakdown so he could give it an accurate estimate....I am hoping hoping hoping that they will fix it. _________________ GoinCoastal aka Cap'nSherbet |
