I was in Shamrock on Wednesday 12-9 and caught about 5 keeper specks and a dozen or so throwbacks on roach bull monnows and TTKs. Right before I came in, I saw this huge shape crusing in the water. I fish Shamrock a lot, and I knew it wasn't one of the everpresent stingrays or visiting dolphins. It got about ten feet from us, and I could see that it was a Ridley's sea turtle-a big one too. I could hardly believe my eyes, but there was not doubt in my mind, as it rose part-way out of the water.
Also, I fish a Shamrock a lot, but have virtually no knowledge of the Deadman's Hole/ Kate's Hole area, though I hear it can really good in winter. What is the easiest way to access it in a shallow draft boat. Along the bridge, then by Packery. Thanks. |
