Hit the beach at 5.45am this morning. Driving was great. Stoped at the 20 with no luck. Stoped at the 26 and caught 3 the reds and 5 big whitings. Stoped at the 33 and caught one 39 inch red and 2 under size. Then the bite quit at 11 o'clock. Driving coming out was also real good. There is still a little grass in the surf. But it is fishable.

I was at the jetties. Driving was great and tides were low. Several pickups with campers were there also.

No I hadnt planned on going there. I only had some shrimp with me and I went down to the 20 mm for a while and the water was dirty and people came by and said they were going south to see if they could find some clear water. All I was getting were a few whiting and hardheads so I decided to try and see just how far I could get. Turned out the driving was nice and I went all they way. Saw a ship wreck and 4 bouys that had been washed in and up by the dunes there was a lot of cane type weeds and trash. If the tide had been high you would have needed a helicopter to get down there. The high banks is gone and in some areas there are no dunes. After I got down there, I saw a guy with a camper up on top of a dune. Must be a road going back up into that area. I took my shrimp and pole and went out to the end of the north jettie. Were a couple of boats out there, but they were not catching anything. All I could catch were hard heads Sad There were a lot of people fishing the south jettie and cars all up and down the south jettie side. So they do have access down there. I thought they couldnt drive on the south side.

They can but they have to get out of the area where the condos are and drive a few miles north, then you get access to the upper stretch of south Padre including the South Jetty at Port Mansfield.
