| Never fished that area, but at night, I convert all my rods to the heavier stuff and throw out Mullet or Whiting heads/cut biat, pop open a cold one, and just relax and wait. I have caught my biggest reds and only tarpon doing this. Never know what hits at night. Don't even have to cast far either. Pick up some of those Breakaway lights for the tip of your rod as they are the best thing out there. |

We used some whiting chunks and dead shrimp, didn't do very well, next time i'll use the heads and see what we catch. I use just the holders for the glow tips, they work great in combo with my lantern. Can see the tips real well.
We moved to the bay around 2 am, had the same luck. I hope it changes soon, my freezer is getting empty |

Those breakaway lights sure has made night fishing more exciting! You can set up 7 rod's at night or more and just keep an eye on the lights. i usually buy the breakaway lights in the hunting section at wal-mart or academy. There are 12 in a package. And what i do is break them, then tape them to my rod tip with black electrical tape, and they stay on all night, and light up all night as well.
give it a shot. _________________ FIRELINE WILL " GET ER DONE!!" |

I use the rod becons sold at academy and walmart, but the 1.5 glow sticks for them got to be a hassel to remember to buy. I ended up just using the rod tip holders with some dead pink or green sticks in them, as long as i'm not to far from my poles, and i have my lantern. i can see them. I've been looking into buying the glow sticks in bulk, can get 100 for arond $15 on ebay. _________________ Someone educated the fish on free trade, they keep trading my bait for a clump of seagrass! |

Don't remember their name on the package, but you can still find them. Go to the hunting section and look for the glow in the dark breakaway lights. I think they use the glow sticks for bow hunting or something. It's a small package, you will see the picture on the package of the light sticks glowing. Trust me guys, it's the best way to night fish without laterns, or fires, or headlights, or any other kind of light.
Just take the glow stick out, break it, shake it, and tape it to the rod tip, it will glow bright all night. I'll go to academy today and find them and post the name of them. _________________ FIRELINE WILL " GET ER DONE!!" |

I have 2 strips of reflective tape rapped around the last section of each pole. It reflects the lantern light very good. Never have to replace it, always there. _________________ Hardheads should be the state fish of Texas |

where did you get the reflective tape? The only reflective tape I could find was in the bicycle section but it really wasn't good tape for a fishing pole. And during the summer does your lantern light create a huge swarm of bugs? That could be a pest. _________________ FIRELINE WILL " GET ER DONE!!" |

I always put my lantern down wind from me, keeping the bugs away. I have a nice double mantle coleman, and it puts out alot of light. I also have a stand for it, keeping it up off the ground gives a better spread on the light, and less bugs. _________________ Someone educated the fish on free trade, they keep trading my bait for a clump of seagrass! |
