I don't think I have ever been out on a party boat with better sea conditions than today. 2-3 footer were really more like 1-2 and the ride out was great. The green water is still pretty far out to about 30 miles before you get to blue water. Well my favorite captain (John Brennan) was not available for this 12 hour. And I think he is mainly doing private charters now. Anyways no live bait on board so no amberjack this trip. Numerous snapper were caught but very few keepers. I must have caught more than 50 red snapper that were in an inch of the legal limit. A few beeliners were caught along with some kingfish, a few ling, and a couple of sharks. I caught my first ling so that was a birthday gift from the fish gods. I got 3 red snapper, 10 beeliners, 1 ling, & 2 kingfish. Not a bad haul for a day's fishing. No sow snapper were caught and the catch was average at best.
If others on this board would be interested in chartering one of these boats with John Brennan for a private offshore trip let me know. If we get enough people it would not much more than going on a 12 hr. trip and we get the best captain in Port Aransas.
So that's the offshore report for 6/15/05. Sorry no pics, but nothing outstanding was caught this trip. SM _________________ That's why they call it fishin', not catchin' |
