Ran down PINS late Sunday got to about the 6mm at 3pm. Had reports from down the beach of redfish, spanish mackerel, black drum, bluefish and pomp. We were after pomps exclusively and things looked great. After about 20 minutes the first pomp showed up. A solid keeper.
But after that it was slow with a pup blacktip that ate a whiting or a pomp on a long rod, a hardhead and a few whiting on the short rod. I never got a bump on both of my longrods and the fishbites and shrimp were hardly touched. A nice day though! _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

Nice pomp!
I went monday and had a good time! Went down to about the 20 and worked my way back north. Ended up with 1 keeper red, 2 nice smacks, about a 3 foot blacktop, and my normal ice chest full of whiting! Sure wish the pomps would have showed. |

I caught a similar pomp in the summer, still got the fillets in the freezer. I hear they're great smoked, but living in an apartment I a'int got a smoker. Any suggestions? _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

pomps are one of my favorite to eat. Here's my favorite way: rub it down in olive oil, salt, pepper, then stuff and cover with garlic, red onion, and lemon slices.

Also, how do you embed images? I can't seem to figure it out |

Pomps are the lobster of the Gulf. You can't mess them up. Just gut, take off the head (or save for fish stock) and go. Outside of speckled trout (and a close second), my absolute favorite salt water fish. So much so, I've never frozen one. _________________ Fish ON! |

| I like to keep it simple. Salt and pepper and then sauteed in butter and garlic until forms of crust on both sides. |

I right clicked to find copy the actual address of each photo and used the img tags but when I did that, the pictures were huge. And oh yes the "after" was pretty way after! _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |
