Thought it would be nice to do some fishing at Bob Hall Pier, hit the beach tonight around 5pm to net some mullet. As soon as we got out of the truck,my son and I started to cough and sneeze pretty bad. Then my eyes started to burn. After bout 15 min. of this thought it would be best to head home.Anyone else experence this lately??? _________________ Live to fish.

We were at the south jetty for the ceremony and the air got really bad. First time in 25+ years of surf fishing I have ever experienced the red tide at the beach. Nasty stuff. We blew off the party today because of it. Come on cold front!!!

I pulled up some info on NOAA. Does not look good for us. They are finding high cell counts throughout our region. Look for yourselves. The red dots mean bad.

Are the mullet still holding off the South Packery Jetty. I was planning on getting bait there Sunday and working towards the north sticks until I find good water. This red tide is sure to ruin my last season here in Corpus. I'm one of the SAR Controllers at CG Sector Corpus and I rotate out in early 07. I would stay here for life, but the CG won't let me _________________ Support search and rescue. Get lost!!! |

Tried netting up some bait there this afternoon. Filled a five gallon bucket from the packery channel, turned on the aerator and added maybe 18 mullet. All were dead within 15 minutes. I'm guessing it had to be the algae. Never seen them die that fast before. There were dead fish all over the beach.
How long does it take for this stuff to clear out and things to get back to some semblance of normal? |
