The problem with Crazy ants is that they swarm by the billions. So if you have them you would know. They can literally make your yard like a dancing black carpet.

For comparison, fire ants only swarm in colonies of 10k to 100k.

They do have multtiple queens and tthey are spreading fast.

As an upside, they eat fire ants! Twisted Evil

We have some new kind of ant in out back yard I haven;'t been able to kill yet but I don't think they are crazy ants. Amdro, Ortho, and Green Light do nothing, they don't eat the stuff. They don't come in he house, and they aren't in the wood panelling outside, so have no idea what the heck they are eating. We had a good rain today, might be time for a gasoline dose and light. Laughing

Here's the story on them.

Scary stories here, but great ways to combat. Tyler, what approach did you go with and has it worked or are there signs of it working?

I live in San Antonio, and they invaded my truck back in 97, was doing work in houston a couple days each month.. so not sure if got them in houston or some where else.. but they were a pain to get rid of them..
did not know that they ate fire ants.. but could see that on how fast they move and how territorial they are..
and does not seam that amdro works on them..

I could get termidor, but it is TOO expensive. It is $1200 for TWO 5 gallons jugs of Termidor.

Tyler,
Call around to some different pest companies in town and see if they have termidor. I know that Tri-County has it, they treated my garage for subterranians last fall with it. I refused to use anything but Termidor. We used to have crazy ants but not since that treatment! Matter of fact, we had formosan termites in an old ash tree and after the treatment, we cut it down and there weren't any termites to be found! That stuff works!

Thanks All. I am pondering what to do but until the rain stops I can't do anything. Smile Maybe they will drown.

The tiny ants are probably sugar ants. They are HARD to get rid of. Took three years for me to get rid of them. The thing that finally got rid of them were the traps that have a dual solution in them. One side is like a grease and the other is some kind of sugar. Set it in their path and leave them alone. Once we found this stuff, they were gone in two weeks. The product is called " HOT SHOT MAXATTRAX ANT BAIT 2"
