Me, Snooker-ed, and Leprechaun took the panga down to the cut.

Counted at least 174 guide boats parallel parked up along the interstate in the cut. Shocked Snooker-ed took me to a spot now known as frayed's-pass, and while Snooker-ed was kind enough to fill the livewell with live mullet from the castnet, I went with a shrimp gulp instead. For the first time ever I was able to outfish my guide. On the verge of going with bait after an initial grind, I pulled in a 17" flatty. Sticking with it, a good mess of reds from 22 to 26" w/i a 30 minute period; I had two breakoffs in all the action now understanding how important it is to watch the condition of your leader after horsing in several reds. Skipjacks were all around with several break offs too. . . topdog tells me its something about their gill plates.

Anyway, every dog has his day, and mine was a long time coming. I'm sure I'll be back to my old form in no time. Very Happy

Fresh oil at IMS' fry greeted the flattie and reds, and one half shell was saved for the family last night. . . first time I cooked it that way and is was fantastic!

Life is good.

Dayummm! You counted 174 GUIDE boats in the cut. No wonder I've had the bay all to myself lately. I've found a good number of nice trout pretty close, I guess they are lost?

Naw, just exaggerating for effect with the guide boats. Smile There were about 40. But it seemed like every guide in the coastal bend was there. Hardly saw a soul on the way down (except a Haynie at full tilt that passed me; man those are fast machines), then hit the cut and blammo, boats everywhere.

As several motored by when we beached the boat, I kept hearing, 'hey, looky over there, it's one of them there pangas.'

IMS, you got that right. Smile

Loads of fun Mike. We waded. . . more effort than sitting in the rig but I really liked it (but now I have more stuff to buy!)

Your tips from our outing helped a lot. Nice to finally put them to good use.
