Looks like it works better than my cuss and cut method. I have 2 reels in my garage that I am going to try this out on now.

I wonder if that would work with the backlashs I have seen at tournaments. Interesting

Now that was really cool. Seems like that is great on small reels where your thumb covers the whole spool. I wonder what you do for bigger reels though, like a Daiwa 40SHV?
