Never ever try to go to the 30's while high tide is coming in... I didn't enjoy that at all.. Thank God for getting me home safely. Well me and Colin caravaned past the Tarzan hole since I was afraid to stop and sink into no mans land.. We left too late and ended up on the skinny part of the island to camp and fish. All this is to the best of my knowledge. We set up our rods on the beach and rigged up with DCD3's with fishbites and sea lice and shrimp. I got a legal black drum on my first cast.. Then came the whitings. Then one pomp. Then the reds started hitting the sea lice and shrimp. Colin caught his first redfish. I tried to rejoice for him and took some pictures. He has many pics of the adventure. We fished until about midnight and then tried to make a fire out of salty Galveston wood. Colin crashed in his tent and I crashed in my truck until 0300 then chilled out by the fire and relaxed dreaming and praying and thinking. This morning on the low tide we drove all the way back on the waters edge without any problems. I cleaned all the fish and 2 of the Reds had artificial baits stuffed in their tummies... No hooks though.. weird.. Billy?
This is a google slide show.

You went past me about 12:30 yesterday. I was around the 16MM or so. I was eating a cold sandwich and I saw you go by and I had jambalaya on my mind . The drive in on the low was easy. When I left from there at high tide it sucked. We caught lots of whiting, one pomp, and one 30" red. I will try and stop you next time I see ya.
I wonder if those reds found somebodys tackle box from Galveston post-Ike. It looks like they had some Gulps! |

Nic pics except for the trash but hey that is what we have to deal with during the cleanup.
I wonder how those gulps could have lasted that long in those red's stomachs. That is wild. |

Great report Sapo! You do have to wonder a few things. Like Sapo asked, where are the hooks? _________________ GOBZA!!!

I would guess that a tackle box from the Houston area crashed into something and spilled out its contents. That would explain the variety of plastics and the lack of hooks. Also, I found a new pack of white gulps washed up during Sharkathon, amongst other things
later,

I wonder if they are consuming gulps that have been tossed or otherwise lost by fisherman? Maybe floated in from Galveston. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

| I would guess the baits were discarded by different fishermen. Good reason not to throw used or damaged baits back in the water, even if you think they are biodegradeble. |

The reds looked healthy, but I wonder how long those so called digestible artificials were in its stomach? It was plum full.. Now, I'm fixin to be plum full.. wonder what goes good with gulps.... _________________

Sapo,
Great, great pictures of your awesome trip! It is much appreciated.
Hey, if that love seat and couch in the background are "aired-out" and still have "spring" can I offer you some money to put it in storage for me? Dude, that would save me some cash in the future!
Please also tell me you found a couple cords of seasoned mesquite and oak, too! |

Looks like they don't dissolve as stated. Wonder how many like items are rolling around on the bottom after Ike. I mean that fish has been chowing down on some gulps and other plastics. Maybe I'll put a gulp in a bucket and see how long it takes to dissapear. Buy the way...nice catch sapo. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Same old hype/spin, different day! I'm sure that they do dissolve or Berkeley could be sued but they darn sure don't dissolve as fast as we are lead to believe! _________________ Dave

I'd be willing to bet the hooks simply dissolved. This is why I really don't like using stainless steel hooks.
