Get ingredients out.
Prepare for cooking.
Place meal against engine manifold.
Secure against block and drive to next jobsite.
Retrieve cooked meal from motor housing.
Add condiments and enjoy!!

I saw an episode of that logging show on the History channel - Ax Men - I think it was. In any case they had a fresh piece of salmon out of some Oregon stream. They salted and peppered it, wrapped it in foil then stuck it on the block of a stationary trackhoe-like piece of equipment. 15 minutes later it was done. They even sent a ziploc bag of the cooked stuff down the mountain on a cable to the rigging guys. That would sure beat the hell outta SPAM...
I prefer sardines on the dash than SPAM on the block _________________ Posted by

I think they even make an oven you can attach to your exhaust system. I think I saw some guys do baked potatoes on a show on t.v.
For some reason I took up the habit of stuffing my kid's(when they were in their late teens) stockings at Christmas with stuff like Spam, Vienna Sausage, Hill Country fair sandwich loaf , potted meat or Armour Treat. They actually look forward to it. Shawne, actually made Spam quesadillas and with the Lite Spam and except for being a bit on the salty side they were darn good! |

| One thing that works good on cold days is to take can goods such as soups, chili, stew, etc. and punch a couple of small holes in lid top and wire it to your engine with the can up so the juices don't run out. We did that for years when running heavy equipment and started doing it when we went fishing or hunting and didn't have a cook stove. Goes good with those spam sandwiches. |

Spam is one of my all time favorites. I remember fishing trips when I was a kid out to far west Texas to go trotlining on both the Pecos and Rio Grande. Our shopping bag for a week on the river would be Spam, Vienna Sausages, jars of Dried Beef, Potted Meat (Deviled Spread), pork & beans, bread and canned peaches, pears, pineapple and fruit coctail for dessert. Oh yeah, also several boxes of Saltine Crackers. I still love Spam sandwiches and Spam and eggs for breakfast (or lunch & dinner for that matter). Did you know that the largest market per capita for Spam in the world is the state of Hawaii? Try some Spam kebobs with pineapple, onion & bell peppers next time you fire up the grill. _________________ Big Ed

Normaly not a staple of my diet, although I do like the stuff now and again.
My wife brought those singles home from work and I told I could cook it with my truck. She said I was full of it, so I was motivated.
Not a bad sammich.
I'll be doing shrimp next time. _________________ "If you love something let it go. If it comes back to you gaff it and throw it on ice."

My wife keeps a can of SPAM in the pantry for me. I like my Spam just like my fish... FRIED!!!! Yummmmmm!!!
I am also a fan of the corn beef hash and roast beef hash. I actually will fry up a can of cbh and when it gets a nice color , I add a bunch of yellow mustard. Then I let it cool and put it in a tupperware. I take it to work and heat it in the microwave and eat it with saltines for lunch. It rocks!!! I wish I had it today, but today is a summer sausage, cheddar cheese block, mustard, and saltines. That ain't too bad either!!! |
