Hey gents,

I'll be down to Rockport with the family on the 23,24,25,26th of March. Stayin in a rent house. If someone wants to meet up with me to hook up with a shark I'd be more than obliged! My six year old boy; Ben would pass clean out if'n he saw a shark on the sand. Just thought I'd check to see if any of you are shark experienced in the Rockport area. Even if you know of an active fishing spot would help. Thanks, Kevin

Rockport beach has some balcktips and bull sahrks swimming around there. However, it may be still early for them. I usually here about then from May and throughout the summer. TPWD gill net surveys get them in the net all the time.

The only sharks I've seen in Rockport are retired from up North. Oh and a couple of the Aransas county commissioners...Heh Heh.

During gill net surveys by TPWD, they often get bull sharks and blacktips in their nets up to 4'. Also, I know some people that catch blacktip shark pups all summer long.

In Copano Bay at the pier along the causeway, I often here of sharks taking people's catch off of stringers. I have even heard of someone catching a 7' bull shark off that pier.

We caught a 5.5' to 6' bull shark out of the Boat Hole in the Laguna. I heard of three other caught in the same area of about the same size. I have seen jaws and heard many stories of people hooking and/or catching sharks in the bays. They are there...very few actually target them.

Had a buddy hook a 5 foot blacktip while wade fishing for trout on a big live shrimp under s popping cork. Cut t he line as soon as he saw what it was and how big it was.

Hooked something that snapped through 60 lb test off of Indian Point one night. Was fishing for black drum and hooked up the biggest menhaden I have ever seen that I cast netted earlier in the day. Bent my med-heavy action rod over in half, took about 6 foot of drag in a hurry, then "BINK".

Had to have been something REALLY BIG, because I have caught 45 inch big uglies and not have them even come close to doing that.
