I'm sure this is well known by now, but just in case: Gulp baits are notorious for catching fish in the bays. If you're not catching, there are no fish where you are. Don't feel restricted to the bays with these baits though. In the past three weeks, I have landed trout, redfish, span macs, jacks, ladyfish, and whiting all on Gulp baits (shrimp and shad). Last spring, I also caught several nice pompano on the Gulp crab. Just a suggestion to those of you looking for something new to try.

How are you rigging them for the surf?

I've had success on a number of different ways. For the shrimp, I have used a heavy jig head. I've fished the shrimp on a double drop with a spider weight. I've used a worm hook and a split shot. Just about any way I could think of has produced fish. I have only fished the shad on a jighead. Hooked several nice macs yesterday with the shad.

Thanks for the tip topdog. I tried the shrimp a few weeks ago but the weed was the issue. I need to go back!

In the bay, I have had the most success on the 3 and 4 inch shrimp in molting and new penny

I'll tell you what, I work at Academy and the New Penny, Natural, Molting, and white, 3 and 4 inch, go like crazy. People are always asking for them. But over all the New Penny out sales them all...

Attention:
NASA and the Jet Propulsion Labs have just completed an exhaustive study which proved that Gulp's do not work, and may in fact be hazardous to the health of fisherpeople who use them (I think one of the side effects was impotence and a general shrinking of the, umm, gear.)

Everyone needs to immediately stop using these dangerous "lures."

That is all.

At least stop buying all the new penny shrimp up before I can get to them. And stop telling everybody about them. Jeez.

Howdy all,

Long time lurker, first time poster, but wanted to give my opinion. I was down at St. George Island in Florida this spring and used Gulp for the first time seriously. My best luck was with using Gulp sandfleas in combination with Fishbites strangely enough. I tried each separately and then together, but had more hits on the combo then either alone. Go figure.

sorry saltwindandfire,

I'm afraid the cats out of the bag. Besides, they work so well I don't even think a little shrinkage would discourage most folks from using them
