Hi Folks,
A friend of mine just bought a 20' Robolo and has no experience at all with boats. He's owned it 3 weeks now and hasn't taken it out yet waiting for someone that could "show him the ropes". He had a trip lined up this weekend but the friend had to cancel. Needless to say ts driving him nuts.
He'd like to find someone knowledgeable to go out with him for a few hours this weekend and teach him what he needs to know. Stuff like launching the boat, operating the boat, getting out through the jetties from AP etc.. Maybe 3 to 4 hours round trip. Anyone have a suggestion on where he could find someone like that?
PM me if you'd like.

| If he's in CC, PM me. I'll help him out if it can happen on a weekend. I don't mind using someone else's gas for a change. Might even be able to catch a fish or two. D. |

This is scary, however, the guy is at least got the brains to wait and get someone with experience to show him the ropes. ANd he is asking for some help here. Let's face it, the safety class is just that. It doesn't teach any bay etiquette at all.
I agree he needs to take the class ASAP, but if I lived down there, I would go take the guy out and show him things.
Sooner or later, this guy is going to be on the water running that boat. I for one would prefer he be "trained" by someone who knows as opposed to learning it on his own. IE, one less idiot on the water because someone took the time to teach the guy a few things. And I believe one day on the water with a knowledgeable person can make a big difference

Well this is the place to start asking questions. Of course we are just kidding/picking about the being afeared part.......better get use to it. Everybody has to start somewhere, according to the pecking order its usually at the bottom of the totem pole. This bunch at corpusfishing.com will not steer anyone in the wrong direction when it comes to the truth.....I think, especially when saftey is involved. however with the zillions of new boaters on the open water zipping here and there, a saftey course is a really good idea. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

I watch the new ones at the dock. Brings back so many memories. I bet someplace I'm on video waiting to win someone some money for funniest video. Like IMS said we all start someplace. I'm still learning. When you stop learning your dead. _________________ Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggie" until you can find a rock.
