Looked at the forecast yesterday, woke up again at 0200, checked forecast again, looked like about a 2 hour window this AM so back to sleep for a couple more hours. I wanted to fish, so I was out of the house by about 0545. Figured I would start looking closer to home w/ the $3.59 gas Mad So off I went to Tarpon_Tamer's neighborhood. Launched at about 0620, light SE breeze and lots of bait. I am thinking that maybe the front stalled so the window may be longer...happy me! Paddled out throwing tops, a few small trout blow-ups in clean water had my hopes soaring.

Caught a huge skipjack, fun but not what I was looking for, so I am on the prowl. Start working my way to the NE figuring that the wind would come on sooner or later. As I was paddling the wind quickly shifted, and at first figured game over, but it backed off to a steady 10-15, plenty fishable. Got set up for a long drift, and started catching 15-16" trout on tops, staked out and caught a few more. Nothing for the stringer---but fun action. Had a huge blow-up right next to the boat as I was straight winding the last few feet. Got my heart restarted, and quickly got the stakeout stick anchored. Few more blowups, though nothing stuck...Let go on another drift, and saw some good looking potholes and staked out again. This time there was one hungry red, that ate my spook jr right next to the boat---game on. Got this one to the boat and strung up, thinking this might be the spot.

About this time my wife calls, asking if I was on my way home, because it was raining and blowing at the house. 5 minute later it found me Shocked Wind got up to steady 25+ with gusts in the 30's making for a fun quartering ride in. All in all a good use for a short window of opportunity. Red on the 1/2 shell tonight!
