Headed east out from the base boat ramp about 9:30 this morning in my kayak with a couple dozen shrimp and a slight chill. I'm not sure exactly where the Boat Hole is, but I think i was in the general area at least. About 10:00, popping cork disappears and my rod bends over. I'm thinking a small red. Turns out it was a 20" trout and i'm stoked. Not only is it the biggest trout I've ever caught (i know, I know) but it was at the beginning of my first drift. Picked up a few more dinks on the rest of that drift. Reset, two more dinks by 11:00. Then, nothing. I float all the way south towards the group of islands and start wading what i think is decent looking water. The fish, apparently had different ideas about what is good water. Just as I'm about to call it a day with my one keeper, my cork starts racing away from me and the fight is on. A few minutes later I net a fat 23" red. Fish for a while longer, but don't catch anything. I did, however, see a TON of big mullet. My heart got pumping a couple times when i was tails in the shallows, only to see the rest of the body of 16"+ mullet. By the time i got back, the sun was out, the wind had died down some and it was a gorgeous day. Hope other people got out to enjoy it.

Here are some pics, courtesy of Chuck3000:

umm... i'm not sure why the pics won't work. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

When I grow up I want to have a yard that looks just like the one in the first pic.

that was a fat red, i'm curious what was in his belly. Now that you've got inshore fishing all figured out you'll have to teach me.
