I have a 20' El Pescador and use it on the flats and have been 30 miles offshore with no problems. It is a very smooth riding hull in a chop and dry as a bone. I had a 20' Hydrasport deep V offshore boat and I think the Pescador rides as well offshore as the Hydrasport and it is drier.
It will run in less than a foot of water and needs 18" to get up. It's built like a tank with 100% composite constuction.
On the down side, it's pretty heavy and therefore not very fast. Also I have heard stories of tunnel V's swapping ends if you run too fast in a turn with the engine jacked up. I have never had a problem with that issue. You just need to use a little common sense.
El Pescador advertises them to be one boat from 6 inches to 60 fathoms.
Here's their website; http://www.elpescadorboats.com/
Hope this helps. |

| I have a Frontier 190 and it is a fishing machine. Can float in a 1' and get up in 18". I have a jackplate and trim tabs with my Yamaha F150. The fuel tank holds 43 gallons and I have been offshore up to about 35 miles. It really handles the water well and all I would change would be to get the 220 next time. Good luck. |

Excuse my ignorance gentlemen, but when you run a power boat at full throttle in water that is 4 to 12 inches deep, does it not tend to mark up the bottom and leave scars where you have passed? _________________ "If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree at sometime or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me." -Melville- |
