For the money and fisherman style Costa Del Mar are worn by many. I have a pair of Costas and a pair of Maui Jims outfitted with persciption polorized lenses Amber is my color of choise for day and bright conditions and vermillion for low light. Pick the color which inhances the objects around you the best . The green tint might work better for you over the blue or vice versa. I wore Bill Dance sunglasses for years they worked just fine for fishing they just didn't fit in around all the stuffed shirts, but then neither did I. Plus they didn't have these things called bi-focals. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

I have a pair of Costa Harpoons and love them. I have not tried the other brands at this point and when it comes time to buy a new pair, Costa will be at the top of my list. Again, the other brands might be as good but I will stick with what I know. I recommend CDM and I don't miss the cash that was spent to buy them.
My choice is CDM and the other top brands I simply have not tried.

| ditto with IMS. I have the green mirror glass. Mine are persciption as well. Last week while fishing I saw a red in the shallows and site cast to him. Got him. But without the glasses I wouldn't have even known he was there. Worth the money. I have the Fathom. |

IMS and TexMike, what did it set you back to get the Costas with prescription lenses? That's my problem, my Optometrist does not carry Costas or Mauis so I would have to get them direct from the company with the corrective lenses. _________________ Later,

troutman....I too have Costas with prescription lenses...I get mine from
Reliable Optical. their address is 5429 Everhart phone is 854-5225.
ask for Manuel or Julian. Their turnaround time is great usually only a couple of days. As far as a price goes I think that all depends on your
prescription and the type of glass and frames you pick out.
Oh yea, robol gets his there also.
hope this might help

| Costas has the best lenses no doubt. Roys is 10 bucks cheaper than just about anywhere. I just bought the wife a pair. |

I get mine at Robert's optical on Corona just off of everhart. He does sports optical and is a sportsman himself. He carries a wide selection of Costas. He will have you try different lense colors and make you go outside to see the way things look with different colors. My lenses with the 10mm low profile bifocals made custom that way set me back about 210.00 a set. It was about the same price everywhere. A friend suggested this guy and once i sat down and chatted with him i knew he would be doing my lenses forever. I have really never had anyone mess up my lenses. However some places just give you better service...customer satisfaction. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED.

| least expensive is not always the best option for your eyes, there are different materials, some lighter than others for your comfort all day, some for your safety so you can protect your eyes in case a lure hits you in the face, all lenses today have coatings but like everything some are far better than others the one you buy will determine how your lenses hold up, fast is good at Stripes but fast in prescription lenses usually means stock lenses which are thicker pre-decentered optical centers, dipped or spun coatings, not individually designed for power and measurements of the wearer nor digitally enhanced, not mutiple baked finishes, etc... which all results in thicker, heavier, poorer optics especially side vision. this is why I always ask for professional advice from a certified Optician. I go to Joe Layton Optical, 4906 South Staples Street- Joe is a fellow of the national academy of opticianry not just a salesman |

The best polarized glasses I ever bought are from this site:
Prescription sunglasses and goggles that your eyeglass retailer is afraid to attempt. Buy wrap sunglasses that keep the wind and debris out.

I get mine in SA but here is the site you can plug in you info and find a local dealer that will give you what you want. I would go with IMS or Mike's suggestions.

Good luck, not cheap but well worth the money. Super glue them to your head, or get a strap. |

| Ray is right, the heavyglare web site gives you some idea of what i was talking about but it is a little misleading to say your local optical shop does'nt do these lenses, informed opticals like Joe Layton Optical use the few labs in existence just like the retail web site does and he takes your measurments instead of relying on estimates... |
