| The Oso pier has some weird hours. Some days i'll drive by and it's open and others it's not. |

| There were some rumors being said that the city shut it down because it was considered "unsafe." Last time I was there was when the County Line was the place to eat right next door. Even then you were not able to cast straight out from the 'T' because one of the hurricanes destroyed about 1/4-1/3 of the deep end (this happened back in the late 70's or early 80's I think) and whatever was left on the bottom was left there . Nothing was ever removed that remained below the surface. I had alot of good memories fishing there as a kid. Every Spring Break that pier was a hot spot during the "drum run." I hope they made improvements to it. That used to be a great place to fish. |

I remember that pier being a hot spot in the 50's for big black drum. Each of the fishermen on the pier would put a dollar into a pot and whoever caught the biggest fish that night took the pot. My Dad won 30-something bucks with a 52 lb. black drum one night. Good times.
What sizes were the sand trout and what baits were you using? I enjoy catching them on ultra-lite gear and they keep the kids busy.
I have seen a lot of folks wading along the pier on the A&M side, but I don't know how they do there. When the bay is calm and the water clear, you can see a series of sandbars running parallel to the shore that seem to connect to the jetties in front of A&M. Has anyone waded that area and had any results?
Happiest of Holidays to one and all.
