I carry 3-4 different sizes up to 1/2 oz. Sometimes they want one size more than the others, plus spoons are so cheap that carrying extra doesn't cost that much. I use the 1/2 oz. mainly to punch through a stiff breeze.

I use 1/2 up to one ounce or so on trout rods then up to about 5 ounces on the long rods if you count Kastmasters, Spooners etc that we use to sling to Jacks, and other bigger gamefish.

Some times the Ladyfish are so agressive, one can loose a lot of tackle. I started using a light wire leader with my spoons. I read this in the book Plugger.

Since I'm targeting trout, I use my bay rod and 12 lb line with 20 lb fluorocarbon leader. When the smacks come in, I will put on a wire leader. (When the ladyfish are that thick I'll pack up and move down the beach. Sometimes you can't dodge them however. Crying or Very sad )
