|
|
Comment or Question:
Is it leagel to filet my fish that I catch on Bob Hall Pier at
the 2 cleaning stations that are provided for that purpose.
Thanks,
Bill Smith
Mr. Smith,
It is legal to clean fish on Bob Hall Pier, but only after all fishing
has ceased and your fishing equipment has been placed in you vehicle.
If you have anymore questions, please contact the Corpus Christi
Regional office at (361)289-5566.
Thanks,
Lt. Toby Murray

| I appreciate the question being asked but the answer is ridiculous. We are supposed to take all of our gear to our car, then backtrack back up the ramp onto the pier to clean the fish. What could possibly the basis for that answer. Is common sense just dead? |

It is to keep someone from cleaning their fish and starting over on another limit which is certainly not beyond the bounds of reality _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

OK, now let me see... I finish fishing on the pier. I take all my gear to my truck in the parking lot and bring my fish and cooler to the cleaning station. I fillet my fish, and come back to my truck to find my window broken and all my gear has been stolen... Nope, I don't think I'll be part of that plan... |

OK ... a sport fisherman takes a few extra fish while the commercial nets kills thousands. Is common sense completely lacking or is it just easier to catch the sport fisherman cleaning his fish on a pier?
Perhaps if there were someone there that actually WATCHED for violations there would be no need for such silly rules to catch people after the fact.
Catching a limit of anything from Bob Hall Pier is such a remote possibility that the rule actually has no real merit.
How about a rollover rule so if you dont catch a fish today you can double your limit tomorrow?
That is so silly they might actually go for it. _________________ Willee 361-563-1303 |

without pointing fingers or naming names, some fisherpeople can and do exceed daily limits at bhp quite often. they normally have an extra cooler in the truck and will walk a cooler to the truck to empty it and start over.
we all should be aware of surroundings and report such behavior to the now patrolling police. _________________ ccbobber |

See what you get for asking, Bill171? I sympathize after getting hammered on this board for suggesting improvements to those cleaning tables and then offering to fillet someone else's fish to test them.
From the response you got, it seems I could have done what I said, not having actually carried any fishing gear onto the pier in the first place, but the folks I cleaned the fish for would have had to quit the pier with their gear first.
TITELINE, the situation's even worse than you posted. To save trips, you leave your cooler and cleaning gear next to a cleaning table while you take your poles to the car. While you're doing this, someone swipes your fish, cleaning gear, and anything else in the cooler. THEN, while you're doing your dance on the pier over the discovery of these thefts, they're breaking into your car for everything else. Adding insult to these injuries, the thieves use the webcams on the pier and in the parking lot to target you and keep from getting interrupted in the acts.
Those of you who've followed the other thread have probably figured out that I don't trust just any game warden to know the right answers, and not only because the wrong questions were asked. I'm suspicious that the underlying regulation is so unintelligible that the wardens and likely some of their supervisors are improvising interpretations that are even sillier. If I ever get the addy I'm looking for, I intend to ask for an exact copy of the regulation, then, making it clear I want to use the responder's name when I quote him or her, I'll ask for the exact wording for signs we should post on the pier beside the cleaning tables. Perhaps it will be something more reasonable, such as "If you intend to continue fishing today, leave the heads and tails on your catch. You may not continue to fish from this pier today after you begin to fillet your catch. " _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!

The other night a friend had his bucket and net lifted while he and several others were not more than 10' from it.
He walked the pier and behold, there was his bucket and net half way down the pier with about 5 guys.
Of course, he asked one of them about it and they knew nothing.
Hopefully, we are in the process of resolving such issues. |
