| With it plowing into Central America, will the Yucatan soak up all the excess wave action? |

conditions are looking like last year........lots of freshwater is great, but it brings a lot of nutrients and fertilizers into the system, which fuel the algal blooms......the lack of dissolved oxygen and stagnant waters contribute as well.....the lack of winds lately to keep things stirred up isn't helping with conditions........
last years red tide hit on October 12 (was just talking to TPWD about that).....we're ahead of that schedule, but hey, the conditions are right now......I have heard rumors of fish kills up north, TPWD is doing testing to determine the cause.....there have also been some spotty kills around here recently that TPWD is testing as well, but I'm thinking they are just the very small seasonal kills that occur in small marinas that don't have any circulation........
hopefully I'm wrong......I don't really want to see another kill this year......I want to have a great, normal fall migration run of fish, and be able to breathe while enjoying it!!!! |

| Not rumors, lots of dead fish up on Crystal Beach on Bolivar. The local government seems just as clueless as CC's. They're wondering the best way to clean up all the fish. Seems like dozers would work pretty well. |

No, I'm not a biologist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night....
I was torn on which answer to give you, so I didn't choose in the end, LOL.....
my title is Environmental Scientist, whatever that's good for......I do have some schooling....and as Tyler would say, I ALMOST have an advanced degree, just like I almost have a 100 ton inshore masters license too, LOL...... |
