I almost got these hummingbirds to eat out of my hand yesterday. I actually had some of them just hovering around me while I was walking around the house.

Nice.
I rounded up all my feeders yesterday, for a bleach bath to kill the mold, and storage until the first weekend of College Football in August.

We did have quite the nice landing this Spring, for hummers, and even though I still have 1 or 2 hanging around, I don't want to be saddled with replacing the sugar water every few days, here in the heat of summer.

Zia: After Hurricane Harvey in '17, there was no vegetation or flowers here. We had a video of my wife coming out of our door, with a feeder. She was inundated by hummers. Probably 25 or more. This year was slower than most.
We have a couple that are for the summer. TexasJim

I live near Sandia and each year at the peak of the fall migration I have hundreds.. During the peak I’ll have 6-8 feeders out. I have tons of Turks Caps on my property and they love them. Since I have visitors all summer and Buff Belly’s in the winter my feeders aren’t down long.

mostly black-chins here.. they come late Mar and stay thru Oct..
I'm sure they nest many times, here..
I buy sugar 10lbs at a time..a few ruby's now and then...
but they're here thru the warm mo.s...
I can tell when weather is gonna get up, acct they really swarm the feeders
sometimes they're thicker than flies on a dead horse...lol

awesome: We had Buff Bellies for several years, but last year and so far this year, none. They are big and make a totally different sound. My wife's hearing is superb, and she knows when they're here. TexasJim

We have two hummingbird feeders hanging and this year if we leave them out overnight they are completely bone dry in the morning. Has to be bats. Here in Bulverde apparently they just love sugar water.

A couple of years back, we had a feeder hanging about six feet below a tree limb, on a small rope. One morning I came out and the feeder wasn't there. No rope. I searched all around, and no sign of the feeder. After a while, I looked up into the tree, and the feeder and rope were in the tree, with the feeder wedged in a fork in the limb. We figured out that raccoons had climbed the tree, hand-over-handed the feeder rope up and got the feeder tilted and drank all the sugar water. We had had problems with squirrels jumping onto feeders, but nothing like the raccoons accomplished! Amazing! The raccoons are gone due to the adjoining property owner cutting down the woods for more RV Park expansion.
