If you're not satisfied with the new Bob Hall Pier just carry a drill and make holes in the railings for your rods. A video of this guy was all over Facebook. I did a screenshot. He's an idiot and ought to be banned from the pier.

I texted it to a friend that was on the way out there and he sent me this saying .... Found it!

Guy got escorted off the pier by the Sheriff, and hopefully is facing a nice, hefty fine. But, no matter how big of fine, the damage is done. <------ And that's why we can't keep nice things here!

Let his fine go to pay for materials and labor in replacing that section of railing. Rolling Eyes

To be honest, I'm surprised anyone that lives in Corpus is surprised. I fully expected this. Just look at any fishing access anywhere and see the trash, broken bottles, old burns from campfires and graffitti.

The KRIS6 News video says the county plans to install rodholders. Why did they open the pier for fishing before rodholders were installed?

This guy likely was not the only culprit, as staff says there have been a lot of holes drilled. Holes in the railing may be the cleanest, least obtrusive rodholder option, and not subject to line entanglement, and bird perching poop paint jobs. And drilling holes could be limited to those that staff identifies as "structurally compatible" locations.

Maybe install signs such as "No drilling or screwing on the pier railings or deck".

Since the culprit that was caught on video appears to be fairly handy, maybe his fine should be...installing rod holders.   And sanding those holes so splinters don't hurt the children. It's all for the children, both of pier rats and, normal rats.  He could be busy for several weekends, and to be kind, allow him to fish at the same time he is working, as long as all the rodholders get installed (or drilled and sanded).
