I headed for the water Monday morning since it was a holiday, and before daylight it was kind of cool, but once the sun came up it warmed up quickly. Big trout avoided me, but I ended up catching 36 of them (mostly slots), eight reds, a flounder and then before I left I tried a different spot just to see if any fish were still around late morning. Two trout and then a hard hit that pulled some drag and quickly ran one way and then another. I saw a flash of fins and thought "jack crevelle in winter time near a grass flat?" Then the fish came closer and it was a solid pomp. On a lure! At just under 20" it joined three trout on the stringer and I headed home ready for a fish dinner.
