Hit Estes Flats Islands early this morning, slinging a Gurgler fly. No takers. One near hit. Gave up. Went to the ICW and started chunking frozen HEB shrimp, where I caught a few last Friday, tossing near a spoil island. NADA. Turned around and started throwing into the center of the ICW, probably 15-18 feet deep. Just shrimp on the bottom. Bang! A 16" drum. Then, a 21-1/2" Red. Cool! Then, a 26" Red. A couple of ugly Toadfish. Then, a 23" Red. In ten years of fishing here, my second Red Limit. Normally, fishing the bottom of the ICW just produces hardheads. Not today. My early birthday present. Tried adding a pic, but no success. You've all seen Redfish pics.
