Well, Red Snapper has reopened for the for hire group and I'm sure the recs didn't hit their quota either. I'm a little confused why we didn't get an extension also.

They'll likely close state waters again soon. :/

you can count on that, and I expect the announcement to come out right before the thanksgiving weekend, cause, you know, there might be people around in town that have time and want to go fishing...

on another note of "why are we listening to the Feds?" I just learned that the TPWD can no longer use gill nets in their sampling....after 52 years, the Feds told TPWD to stop using that method, and the scary part is that TPWD LISTENED TO THEM AND STOPPED....
can't make this noise up

If that turns out to be the case, you can thank Flipper for that.... That's been a long, ongoing dispute with the Feds, and I'd be pretty shocked if they couldn't find a workable solution.

[Edited - The point of saying "If that turns out to be true" in the future, is the 'negotiations' are still going on, and the 'Full Stop' order for gill nets wasn't a Final Decision. A new Administration in January could kick all of this to the curb].
