Took the boat out early, but it seems my nephew messed up his run to Roy's a little, I needed more gold weedless Johnson spoons but he bought copper for me instead. I didn't notice until we were starting a drift.
I had never tried them before, silver and gold was always it. But what the heck.
I caught 14 trout and one undersized red on that copper spoon in three hours. None of which fit the new slot length. 10 under and four over. I didn't bother keeping the one oversize, it's still not enough for a family meal in any case.
By contrast, my nephew only caught two undersized trout on his favorite cork/gold flake DOA shrimp combo.
Looks like I have a new color to add to the tacklebox. |

| Years ago I made several spoons cutting up some old copper water pipes. Used to catch a lot of redfish on them. Especially attaching a little piece of red tubing on the shaft of the hook |
