If this post is not in the correct spot, please move it where it belongs.

I have a question dealing with what used to be the KOA campground in Tropic Isles. The new owners appear to be trying to build a pier alongside our channel leaving the neighborhood canals that get us into the bay. It appears that the pilings have been installed pretty close to the channel. Does anyone know what the legal distance that is required from the new pier to the navigable channel is? From where the pier is, they will be fishing in the navigable channel and will cause all kinds of issues with us homeowners in Tropic Isles that try to leave the neighborhood via boat. Also, do they need some sort of permit either from the city, Corp of Engineers, or any other entity?

They seem to have paused construction. So I am hoping that they ran into some sort of legal issue. From what I have heard they do not have any permits from the city of Corpus.

Another quick question, what are the rules for wakes in the canals, I have always been no wake zone in any canals/channels with houses or where it is clearly labeled.

Anyone with the same concerns, please feel free to attend the Tropic Isles HOA meeting on Monday night, 6/3/24 at 6:30pm, I believe it is at the church at the corner of Waldron and Caribbean.

Thanks in advance for any help.

They have to have a permit in place

When the KOA was in the planning stages they had a pier proposed where the current one is under construction. Many voiced their displeasure and concern and it wasn’t built back then.

Another question for the TI board is when are they going to use our annual dues to repair/replace the sea grass barriers at the mouth of the main canal?

They were supposed to address the sea grass barriers at the meeting tonight. Unfortunately the meeting was canceled. I heard that there weren't going to be enough officers at the meeting so it was canceled.

I actually thought I saw someone working on it the other day when I drove back over the bridge in the evening...

From my limited experience with improvements in the water on a channel in the Corpus Christi area I can't imagine the Corps of Engineers is not or has not been involved?

they should be for sure, but that particular operation has done some things that let me know that they aren't watching them...
