Got a flyer for the 'upgraded Snoopy's Pier' in the mail the other day, and it was EYE OPENING!!!

The Entrees range from $18 for the Wagyu Burger, to $48 for the Surf&Turf. Shocked Personally, I have my eye on the $41 Diver Scallops with Heirloom Grits-Fennel Slaw-Caramelized Lemon-and Smoked Almond Romseco.
The costs for the steaks (8oz Center Cut, 14 oz New York Strip, and the 22 oz Bone-in Ribeye) aren't even listed,....... sooooooooo I'm going with 'Market Price'. Laughing But Hey, the Seafood Tower will only set you back a cool $85 for a full portion.

They have surely come a long way since 'Cash Only' and 'Fish & Chips' on a paper plate. WOW.

[I had to Google Romseco, to find out what it is].

Unfortunately............A tourist trap, Maybe they should add hardheads to the menu and call them Texas Trout.

This did not work at Bluff Landing, Guess they make their money during the busy tourist summer season, then business falls off, then they might come back to the reel world and have moderate prices.

I saw that too. Specialty oysters (Hemingway- like Rockefeller, or Peruvian, or...) $4.5 each, so $54 a dozen. Only thing I saw tempting was the Wagyu burger, but it is likely not really Wagyu. And, hey, Arby's has a Wagyu burger now...

Yeah. About eleven years ago, I drove all the way to Snoopy's from the RGV for a friend's book-signing party, and I couldn't even get a rum drink to go with my paper plate of fried food. They had beer and crummy wine. Order at the window, pick up your food and beg for a plastic fork! Wow! Somebody start painting the FOR SALE sign. TexasJim

I spent my summers in the panhandle of Florida. My grandmother made grits every morning. I consider myself a connoisseur of grits. Yella grits, white grits, cheese grits, bacon grits, eggs and bacon grits...but never heirloom grits.

I feel so cheated...

I suppose they are grits made from an ancient Aztec variety of Hominy that is currently stored in the World Bank of Seeds in the far northern reaches of Norway, with armed guards protecting them 24/7.

Maybe it's the same place they keep the Peruvian - $4.50 EACH!!! oysters. Definitely, not in a common sack <--- for shame, and under armed guards, keeping away any pesky Dermo.

I wonder if the cost has risen since I was there about 2-3 months ago.

1 child's plate fish, 1 fish sandwich and an order of the stuffed jalapenos. Plus 2 waters =$46.00 Shocked

If that's the case then it's probably heirloom grit instead of grits. It reminds me of that old Night Court episode where the down on their luck family finds grandma's stash and buys the courthouse concession...for 250K. Later in the episode the mother comes in the courtroom and tells a lawyer, "Congratulations your loan is approved" and hands him a snickers bar.

It may be time for a Food Truck area. I remember years ago, on a local TV Sunday morning show (Focus on South Texas, or similar title), the restaurant owners down on South Padre Island argued against any Food Trucks down there. All kinds of stupid excuses, but competition was the obvious unstated reason.

IF TXDOT would fix the sometimes swamp under the causeway, the shade there would be a great place for a food truck/trailer area.

After a few trips to the new improved Snoopy's, Doc's seems reasonable, cooler, and better food.

P.S. I miss the Oso Pier.

Are we talking about the "Pearl" or regular "Snoopy's"

Never been to the Pearl, but did get an ad in the mail with BL type prices which I promptly threw away...

I haven't had any issues with "Snoopy's" in the last few months..
