I've pulled almost everything behind the kayak when paddling offshore. Many lures catch fish but a few really work as magnets. In my personal experience nothing seems to be more productive than the Halco Max 110 in baitfish color. Roy's stocks them, and don't be tempted to buy a larger "more appropriate" size. Trust me, the small one works best for kings and other nearshore species (even snapper), and it comes with good split rings and hooks so re-rigging is not needed. Just be sure to run some wire between the lure and line because as a small lure, the kingfish bite sometimes overlaps the split ring.

the Russelure that's real popular these days in LA is a plastic one a lot like a big Rapala. It's not the old school metal one they used to make, or maybe still make, I don't know. They use them for wahoo. _________________ "If we don't leave any, there won't be any."
