| There are a number of good reputable people installing boat lifts on the canals. We just have to check around and find the price that suits you. As far as sling or rigid with my boating skills I like the sling. It's very unforgiving when you pulling into your slip if you're off a little bit. My neighbor has a rigid one and his boat is always sitting lopsided. |

Check with Brock's Docks. Lots of experience, very honest, quality work. He could give you estimates for sling vs rigid and tell you pro's and con's of each.

| Sling lift for sure. As Zia said, great flexibility and easily adjusted. You can purchase cable weights or make your own with U-bolts, 2 1/2 - 3 inch PVF pipe and Quickcrete. Opt for stainless cables over galvanized, pricier but worth it. |

| Brent, what does your acronym "abs" stand for, and are you on the mainland or on the Island? |

rigid bunks are the way to go. slings can squeeze and damage your boat. my boat manufacturer said if i used a sling he'd void my hull warranty _________________ Life is Good |

How deep is the water? And how deep is your boat's draft? Shallow canals can make rigid lifts impractical, but slings can lay flat on bottom. _________________ "In your guts you know he's nuts" |

I've studied the same issue and was advised if I were to use a sling on a lift I would need to have the gunnel underside structurally enhanced due to the inward pressure resulting from the sling. Where I will eventually build a lift is probably too shallow for a beam, although I would prefer it. |

X2 to what Capt. Frankie said, slings cause stress cracks in the gunnels and can cause the rub-rail to come unfastened (rivets to pull out).
bunks are the way to go, just like keeping it on the trailer.
