|
|
After having dinner with my son his wife and our two grandkids at Snoopy's Mary and I drove out to the beach to watch the full moon come up. Unfortunately the cloud cover was thick on the horizon and the moon wasn't highly visible until it got higher in the sky and was not as orange. However on a short walk that we took prior to the moon coming up we did find a bunch of these sea olives.
Does anyone know if these snails are edible. Oftentimes when I'm at the beach and there's a bunch of coquinas I'll harvest them and take them home and make a chowder out of them and was wondering if these are edible. I know all snails are not so just curious. I just might have to Google it.[/i] |

I can't find anything that says they are NOT edible. [I'd ask my favorite Molluscan Expert, but sadly he is no longer with us]. They are predatory, but not like Cone snail predatory!! , so.........
Be like that first guy that cracked open an oyster and thought, "Hey, I wanna put that raw thing in my mouth". |

| I think I'd let you do that first CS. And then if you lived to talk about it then I'll try it. |

The 'foot' on them is relatively large, given it's small size. I imagine it would be similar to conch, but hopefully not as tough. Now you got me thinking I want to give it a try! I lived in Louisiana (twice!), I've eaten far sketchy'er things. |
