Anyone know where I could buy a large seine net? Had a large one as a kid and would bring in all kinds of fish/critters from the surf. The ones at the major retailers are way too small.

Might want to check the Outdoor Annual before you go buy a large beach seine.

A seine is a section of non-metallic mesh webbing, with the top edge buoyed upwards by a floatline and the bottom edge weighted. Includes a push net.

Legal only for taking nongame fish and other aquatic animal life including crabs, crayfish, and shrimp.
May not be longer than 20 feet.
May not have mesh exceeding 1/2-inch square.

Must be manually operated.
In salt water, nongame fish may be taken by seine for bait purposes only.

Now, if you possess a Scientific Collecting Permit, I'd suggest Memphis Net and Twine for a large seine. https://www.memphisnet.net/

I used seines to catch bait thru out my teenage years, It's amazing what is hidden in the surf.

The standard 16' and 20' sizes work just fine and in fact the bigger they get the harder they are to use.

If you just want bait in the intra-coastal I suggest a push net instead of a large seine.

I remember years ago shortly after moving to Corpus, after seeing a lot of people using pushnets along the causeway, I built myself a pushnet. Was just thinking about that the other day. Although I very very seldom use bait it's a lot of fun with the grandkids to see what you can push up.

Thanks to all for the Memphis Net and Twine recommendation! Ended up getting a really well made custom seine. Came in yesterday. I almost went with Bountiful Seines out of Florida but they were out of stock. Both companies had outstanding customer service. Looking forward to trying it out next beach trip.

How long a seine are you looking for ? You are aware that 20 foot wide is and has been the maximum width since at least the 1960's.
