|
Took my best friend who has never fished salt water to Packery and Porta this weekend. Was mostly an exploratory trip to find future fishing areas. We fly fish and will be adding a second kayak to explore the area.
Started Sunday noon at Packery Jetties East side near launching ramp parking lot- 1 Spanish Mackerel on silver spoon. We were using live and dead shrimp also. Moved to West side and moved out jetty about 300 yards- No bites
Went to Packery Park as the bridge area was packed with people and boats. . No one we talked to caught anything but a Buzz from all the empty cans in bags
Did some driving and went to Port A jetties, One Mangrove Snapper
Stayed in Flour Bluff and at dinner we saw lights around fishing docs loaded with fish.
Monday am we tried Packery Bridge; 4 Ribbon fish chases mullet on Silver spoon; We moved to Port A jetty and watched ships come in; Then the Mangrove snapper turned on;
We went home with 2 Spanish Mackerel; 2 Spade fish; 13 Mangrove Snappers; 3 Ribbon fish for garden compost- Looks like Taco time |

Thanks for posting up! You covered quite a bit of ground! _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

| Sounds better than my day today, went to north pa jetties and had 1 rat red, (but it did have the prettiest blue tail I've ever seen) made it out out to the color change and only caught 5 "bull" hardheads, came back in by the lighthouse and only 1 rat, went back to the jetties and nada. One feller still sitting in the same spot, but never saw him catch a fish, but he wasn't sitting there for no reason, I reckon. Still better than working. |

| Great report and those Mangrove are tasty! We saw a lot of oversized reds caught at the end of north Packery 2 weeks ago on finger mullet. We caught dink trout on soft plastics. |

| Yep that's the way that little feller's tail looked. I got my tail whooped today, only one 27 and a tagged 30, but lots of oversized and I'm feeling it right now. At least I got em all successfully released, I texted my wife they swim with the fishes. All concerned she texted back what does that mean, I responded they swim with the fishes. Good day on the water despite the fog, still better than working. Lots of foghorns at the PA jetties today and no, not the chicken. lol |
