Ok all, at work. Have not read other stories as I am trying to finish so I can escape. Question is, Is it worth it? With the Hurricane or Tropical Storm setting it

Depends on what you have in mind.
Surf fishing, could get dicey. The storm itself isn't really going to be the issue (it ought to drift N/NE and miss us directly), but the swell kicked up in the coming days ++ might make it tough on the beach.
Bay fishing, shouldn't be any issue. We are still dealing with a juicy atmosphere, so pop-up showers are around for the next week ++ or so.
Hope this helps.

Hey CS. I am heading to South Padre Island on Saturday and I wondering when I can expect to see the tidal surge begin and end as I will be there for a week.

I imagine the National Weather Service will update beach flooding warnings.

https://www.weather.gov/crp/

like today's:

https://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=TXZ442&warncounty=TXC273&firewxzone=TXZ442&local_place1=13%20Miles%20ESE%20Chapman%20Ranch%20TX&product1=Coastal+Flood+Advisory&lat=27.4896&lon=-97.2714#.Xtgd5hpKjIU

and hazardous weather outlooks:

https://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=TXZ442&warncounty=TXC273&firewxzone=TXZ442&local_place1=13%20Miles%20ESE%20Chapman%20Ranch%20TX&product1=Hazardous+Weather+Outlook&lat=27.4896&lon=-97.2714#.Xtgd3hpKjIU

Tropical Storm Cristobal will move inland over eastern Mexico today before moving back into the Gulf this Friday. Cristobal is forecast to track north through the central Gulf this weekend before reaching the central Gulf Coast early next week. Even though Cristobal current track is east of the Middle TX Coast, coastal flooding and a high rip current risk could develop this weekend

He also has a Facebook page (right side of web site has some of that posted).

ok, maybe this is a bit of a technical question, but I"m confused why all the spaghetti models have this counter-clockwise Cristobal going right over the top of clock-wise spinning Eddy Thor? how does that work? I always thought lows and eddy's avoided each other?

here's the eddy

plus, storms typically follow the warmer water? so that would have it falling in line with the loop current and taking a right turn into Florida, or having it drift more to the left and come straight at us; not what's predicted to do?

something feels weird about this....probably it will just fizzle...

Warmer, in a relative sense. The difference in the eddy and outside isn't a really strong gradient.

Cristobal already has shifted East as of this morning, on it's way into the Gulf. Plus, there is a MASSIVE amount of really dry air to the West of it, so if it wraps that into the circulation, a total fizzle-out isn't out of the question. I'm still leaning towards Mobile Bay as ground zero on Sunday/Monday.
