I only post from a laptop and never a phone. Could be why for me...

Hard to emphasize with the crying, whinging and outrage concerning beach, pier, et. al. closures to the general public. Here in South Florida all public access to beaches are closed and patrolled, boat ramps in most counties are closed, fishing piers are closed, state parks are closed and of course bars, eateries(except for take out/delivery) and in the city of Palm Beach as well as Boca Raton there is an order to stay inside with evening curfews. These closures and other orders are either by order of the governor, mayor or county admin and are being enforced with warnings, citations and in extreme cases fines and possible jail time for misdemeanor crimes.
So....sorry but kind of hard to get all weepy over situations posted here and hopefully you will not get hit as hard with this virus as some in Florida have been.
What is especially ironic is that in both states the elected officials dictating these orders are Republicans! I guess we can always blame Obama for these maladies....

Mickeyd, I think what you missed is we have a problem with everyone not being treated the same, as you have in Florida. I can't argue with the method of closure Florida has expedited. No problem here with the REPUBLICANS, I think they are doing a great job with our country! Exclamation

Sounds like jealousy to me... I fish for food, I don't run out to the store and buy beef. Maybe Floridians should be a little more outraged. I generally drive a half of a mile past anyone else on the beach, regardless of COVID19; social distancing isn't an issue. All weepy is a very rude thing to say, regardless. How pompous of you.

So the Mayor of Port Aransas allowed spring breakers to fill hotels and restaurants, but when spring break was over he closed the beach to locals fishing to feed their families?

So, you have no empathy for folks who want to fish the surf in TX, and you want portray them as whining crybabies; you also want to use this opportunity to make fun of folks who oppose what some contend is the worst president in American history.
Ok. No further comment here.

OK, I agree Obama was bad. But there's no need to call him the worst president in American history. And I would like to point out, Tyler started this thread. I would also like to point out, that courts are closing, the jails are full, and there's no way to enforce any of this nonsense any longer anyway, let alone even pay a freakin ticket. Everyone just needs to play nice in the sandbox. Pun intended.

I wrote an email to the Mayor of Port Aransas, pointing out the contents of the Governors press conference on 3/31, where he states that 'Texans can hunt & fish' so long as they abide by the CDC Guidelines, and that "this decree supercedes any local Orders". Included the link to the Houston paper article, and made sure to provide my full name & address.

I'm waiting patiently for his reply. Rolling Eyes

CLAP emoji, CS! Well done. Bujhan won't be re-elected, if he even survives the lawsuits to follow. Survive we will, then sue we shall. Even the residents of Port Aransas know he just screwed their main season. They won't put up with it, as they're still recovering from Harvey. F him! As was said earlier, he is violating Texas state law. (Personally, I saw the statement TPWD released recently and was disappointed about their lack of state enforcement over local governments. Possibly another thread...?)

P.S. - Does anyone find it ironic as I do that this is the same person whom has fought so hard against the port expanding and deepening the harbor, as well as building a VLCC and desal plant on Harbor Island, "in proder to protect the estuaries of Corpus Christi Bay and surrounding areas" is cutting off fishing from his beaches, jetties, piers, etc? Sounds like a false flag job to me. Hope some Port A residents are reading this this over a few times.
