| I think what we are experiencing with the closure of beaches and other land to fishing and even the closure of boat ramps is some people have risen in their jobs to their level of incompetence. |

Yeah, BayFly: Rockport and Aransas County will close all parks, beaches AND boat ramps at 11:59 PM 3/28, until 4/14. The county doesn't have a case, but they've passed a Stay at Home Order. Hiking, jogging, birding, cycling are allowed, as long as doesn't violate the 6-foot rule. Kayaking and fishing are not considered "exercise" by the powers that be.
I'd rather see law enforcement stationed at all roads into the county to keep the infected out. Only Corona allowed in would be in cans or bottles!
Not to downplay the seriousness of the epidemic, but how much more social distancing can you get than fishing, kayaking or boating? You ever have a fisherman get within 6 feet of you when you're casting?
At this point, San Patricio County ramps are open, if you can get there without being captured. I assume Nueces ramps are open, except for Port A.

No it actually makes sense, they dont want people from austin, san antonio etc traveling here to fish, its not the fishing itself, but too many people travel to the area to do it. Not saying its right or wrong but there is a reason. |

Thats my thought - i know i can gas up around the corner, hit the automatic ice machine, get some old bait out of the freezer and not be near another human being for the 44 miles drive to the sand and then the 25 or so miles to my sweet spots. But the "authorities" and I use that term loosely, are afraid of folks stopping 2 or 3 times on the way down from infected areas like san antone or houston, hitting walmart, stopping to shoot the poo poo with other people along the way.
Some things you can trust people to be on their honor to do whats right, not this. Spreading this thing more versus flattening the curve is on the level of a depression versus a recession, leaving dead people out of the discussion.
This is something i think everyone should listen to . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J0d59dd-qM&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3kCtkf3aF_EwZJRcbFSN9MHBGLox_tBVRuS8JVu_JpTeMrUXgu5kJedNk _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

| Thanks for the video Donnie. What I have a problem with is how is someone fishing any different then someone hiking, biking, jogging, birding, cycling, or just hanging out on the beach? Do they think people don't come from some distance to do those things on the beach, and the ones doing so are only locals? In my family of possibly 100 people total maybe there are 5 "fishermen"(non are surf fishermen), while the rest just go to the beach because they want to be at the beach for various reasons like those permitted. Your video crudely advised me of how COVID19 progresses, but did not convince me why the powers that be in Port A wants to discriminate against the few of us who fish. BTW, I am not one who fishes from the land, and especially at the surf or jetties. |

If Aspen,Colorado closed down their ski slopes, how many out of town visitors would they have?
Would you like to go console the family of the man who worked Mustang Island Park office/fee booth until March 18th? He's now a "presumed positive", which is why the Park is closed. Wonder how many visitors and locals he interacted with before he realized he was sick? |

That's a good question "fishinglady", but can you answer it? I've spent a lot of time in Aspen and a lot of people go to Aspen and never ski, because they prefer to do otherwise. Comparing Aspen to Port A is not an apple to apple comparison, because most going to Port A do not fish, especially from the land, whereas skiing is the main draw to Aspen during the winter. If the powers to be at Port A had been thinking about their employee in the toll booth rather than how much money they could make then they would have closed the booth and left the beach open. Greed is a terrible thing! |

Agree - i dont understand the Port A moron - nor do i handle the timed deal with our pins. I dont fish by a clock , I fish by whats biting and for how long. I have an application i am trying to complete - so I am going to focus on that - for now. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

And sorry if the crudeness of the video link offended you, it was not a defense of the moron from Port A, it was information that I thought might be helpful. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

Go ahead and request an exemption Zia. Then, we will all know where your 2 and 3 minute honey holes are. Of course, we would have to wait 4 to 6 weeks if they share your coordinates with us.

I know where the 2 & 3 minutes Honey Holes are. Did some serious Detective work from the published pictures from Zia over the years.
You too can have them, for the right price. I'm taking Charmin, Jasmine Rice, mutli-pack paper towels, and packaged pasta (linguini, fettuccine, or ziti ONLY!!) as payment.
Hit me up! |
