I bought a LDX spinning combo from Nick at breakaway in November. He answered questions by email for a month leading up to the purchase, and had someone stay at the shop a few minutes past close to let me get it on my way down for a weekend trip. Then i snapped the rod casting on my next trip. He verified the weigh i was casting, then told me to come pick up a replacement section. He even arange for a sunday pickup of the replacement.

Two thumbs up to a great local business. I'm glad i went through a little extra effort to buy direct insted of finding a dealer.

Same experience - i inundated the poor guy with questions - he patiently answered them all. I now have three of them, all bought direct. I had an "event" with a sharker who on a high tide night - ran his line from the dune down out to the water - which snapped the top of my hdx - and Nick helped me out with the solution. Guess where I will buy my next one.

I have had great expreriences with folks at roys as well, they answer lots of questions, and literally carry every thing you could possible need for surf fishing. And their sales folks come up and do the "can we help you find something" - can you remember the last time you heard that at academy ? I cant.

I agree it's good to hear positive comments about both local businesses.

There are bound to be others like me who do not know what "Breakaway" is so I googled the name and found the following: https://www.breakawaytackleusa.com/about-us/

Enjoy!

Sorry about that - Nick Meyer has a business marketing Breakaway rods, terminal gear , etc. You can see him down the beach in his red breakaway vehicle fishing with his wife Brenda and his fish retrieving dog , "Abby" I think. Very knowledgable.

Nick is a good businessman and a nice guy all around. In the past, he has treated me well when I had problems with any of his gear. This is such a contrast to other businessmen in our area that just won't work with you.
