One of the guys from up north - (san antone I think) posted that the beach was beautiful, the clarity was 9-10, surf was 0-1, and he caught nothing. He fished from the sticks all the way to mansfield - he used shrimp and fish bites.

Repeating what he posted on Facebook.

I did spend this AM on the sand.
First stop was north of Packery Channel water was clear no surf or current but no action.
I moved to SBH and fished four different spots from 2 miles south to the north sticks again water clear surf flat and no current. Bite was slow with only whiting caught.
IMO water still a little cool and need movement in the water.
Tomorrow we are heading deep into PINS since low tide is 8:00 and high tide 5:00. Hopefully good driving and fishing on incoming tide..

Howdy
Saturday update.
Bride and I drove off the pavement at 8:45 heading south.
Wow talk about a Chamber of Commerce day. Blue skies, no wind driving 9/10 and water gin clear.
Mid twenties found a pinch and caught 34 very nice whiting and one large pomp. Fish until 12:30 and cruised back.
But, Donnie I am sorry to report zero hard heads.
It was nice to see many family units on the sand. Makes me happy to see kids fishing and not on their digital toys.

Glad to hear somebody got something Sinker. Mary and I went sbh late morning and set up three rods. One with shrimp and fish bites another with live finger mullet and the third with cut mullet. Got one bite all day and I think that might have been crabs. The only thing I did catch was a little buzz drinking some of these.lol

We went saturday afternoon - ran into nick and brenda coming back from down south, they had caught bull whiting, but no pomps. We (daughter and I ) set up around the 20 - and the whiting were there - not in great numbers, caught 6 pretty decent size , nothing i would call a bull whiting, but enough to prove that we had been fishing.

Left about dark , saw some freaky stuff coming out. One, not so freaky - but odd, we were heading out, beach was pretty narrow - and daughter says, 'dad, whats that?' , - somewhere north of 15, we come across a guy, dressed in black walking in the middle of 'the road' , walking south. As we passed him, she tried to talk me into going back and checking it see if he was ok. Normally, i would have - but it didnt look normal - i said, ' no , something doesnt look right - he didnt wave as if to say ' hey i need help' or anything.' So probably 2 or so miles farther, we are still talking about the guy - when over on the left, toward between the very narrow driving lane and the dunes, there is what looks like a woman - again dress in black, either really baggy pants or a skirt or something - my daughter thought. Her face was very pale - and black curly shoulder length hair, her arms were crossed - i thought it looked like a mannequin set up by someone to scare the xxxx out of people - which it did - but my daughter said she was definitely moving her arms. My first thought - it was a Michael Myers - looking face - this time daughter was ' whoa dad - lets get off the sand '. We were laughing and trying to figure out what the heck - dont know what it was, and the dash cam was stuck in the camera box or I would be having some fun today.

We tried to figure out what it was - the nearest camp was a couple more miles north - if I had to guess - the 'woman' or whatever , was in the 12 or so area , nearest camp was at least two miles north of where we saw it. So someone out for a night stroll - quien sabe. I have driven out at night more times that i can count - and have never seen anything odd - sitting and fishing alone , a few times i have heard noises, voices - which i attribute to sound bouncing over the water from a rig, or a passing ships loud speaker, have never seen anything until last night. The first one, the guy walking south, not a big deal, other than walking at night, in black , in the middle of the driving lane, the second, the 'Michelle Myers', was strange. And by the time we got passed this - and i was having such a blast scaring my hard to scare daughter - 42 year old USMC vet - she did not ask to go back and see if that one needed help.

Strange stuff - no doubt there is a easy explanation - but what it is i dont know. We started joking that 'well we found out what the rangers are doing with their time off ' but then we came across two that had people pulled over - in the 5 and north of 5 area - so we crossed off the 'rangers being ticked off and want to have some fun ' idea.

Sinker, my daughter and I went out - around 1:00 so we may have passed each other when yall were leaving. And my guess is we had stopped a few miles short - we stopped around 20 - and caught a few - whiting - lol, no hard heads in sight. May make a run out there the next several evenings.

Made it to about the 22 today and had a great time! Caught a few fish, found some "treasures" of the sand, saw a good buck, and just soaked it up. No pomps but fun day!!!!

I was just up there friday till sunday morning and the conditions were amazing on the beach except there were no fish. Lots of mullets and clear water that showed no fish. Not the mention this whole shortage of shrimp in the area too with baitshops. I had better luck at cosway than I did at bobhall or caldwell which were almost exactly the same in clarity and lack of fish.
