They ought to rename those to "Easy Money". The manufacturer is making a killing, because they are the camping version of trash-bags or toilet paper. Single Use Only!!!! Cool

After the weekend around the 4th, dont remember which side, i counted 6 of those carcasses, laying on their backs for the most part. And the garbage dumpsters had a number more.

I've had and have used mine for 6 years now with no issues. Folks just don't want to take it down when it gets windy or tie them down properly.

Wow 875 preregistration and more to add. That is a very impressive number of anglers.
Congrats to whoever is organizing and coordinating this event.
It would be super cool if every participant would remove their own trash plus two bags for each.
Or perhaps those sports people entered do that already.

I drove out there as it was ending last year and then went again on the monday after, and it was remarkably clean. I heard that a group of volunteers - went through the whole area looking for any where that needed cleaning - and taking care of it.

Exactly the issue. They are not single use; people are just too lazy to deal with them after a long day of beach activity. The frames (a.k.a. carcasses) are built to last, but people can't and don't want to figure out how to fold them down properly and just abandon them. To me, not only is it an environmental issue, it's a total waste of money on their part. I've heard of people that buy a new one each trip they make here. That's crazy. No wonder the manufacturer is making a killing! I'm not usually one to go after the manufacturer for peoples' misuse of products (see "drunk driving"), but maybe in this case the manufacturers should start placing some responsibility labels on/in their packaging (if they don't already - really surprised there haven't been any lawsuits yet).

I've always thought of picking up the leftover carcasses and reusing them for something, but I don't have the tools to tear them apart or the place to store them. Surely something can be made of them.

Reading the rules - the boundaries - for sharkathon, is the rule basically that you have to fish from the sand, no piers, no jetties to have your catch be legal for the tournament?
