Spent the last weak on a fishing trip with a bunch of buddies in Alaska. Will be back on Monday and will post more pictures. Here's just a little teaser of what we got.

Sitting here at the airport in Houston waiting to get back to Corpus. Have time to post a little bit more. We all got our limit but for one small halibut to finish four limits. Each of us was allowed one halibut under 28 and 1 over 28. Biggest weighed 64 lb. We had to throw three back that were oversized after we already had our upper limit.

The next day we did a fly out into Big River lake at the mouth of the Wolverine River. We each got a limit of three Sockeye as well as a limit that was our guides. Came back with a lot of meat that day. That's where I took the video of the bear. By the way I cannot see that video on the site it says it does not support plug-in. Just wondering if that is just me or if everybody else can see the video

no better eats than halibut. While sockeye and silvers eat well, if you ever get a king, it will forever spoil you about what's good eats.
Calendar-wise, you should have been dead-on kings.

We did Three River trips looking for king salmon but between us we only managed one 40 pounder. The numbers were down this year as well as it being between two runs. The tell you how low the counts are this year, to date there's been 59,000 fish counted. Last year at this time there was 160,000 and the year before that 219,000. Significant drop. The guides are saying they're at a 13-year low for kings and sockeyes. The fishing is quite different also. Floated down the river in a drift boat and the guide uses his oars to slow us down. On the Kasilof river you're allowed to use bait so we had plugs with sardines and other ones baited with eggs. On the Kenai River you had to use single Hooks and no bait. plain lures. And we just drift along for about 8 hours and tried our butts off but only got one. What was really interesting was the tide changes. The second day we were on the river there was a tide change of 26 feet. Pretty awesome

What's the interesting in this next picture is all the poles that are sticking way up above the boats those were Mooring post. When the tides come in at 26 feet all those post where down lower than The Masts of the boats they were attached to.That's how much fluctuation there is.

This is a dock where boats gas up. That dock a floating dock and during that high tide the pumps will go all the way up to the crossbar.

This is a Dolly Varden that I caught on one of the float trips. Also got three rainbows. Trout need to be released as they are protected on the river we were on.

On the day of our fly out when we caught all the sockeyes the guides filleted them right there on the river before we went back. The markings on this one was caused by seals trying to have a little bit of snack

Here we were trolling for king salmon after coming back from our halibut trip. We only troll for about 30 minutes before you went into the marina unsuccessfully. Beautiful scenery though

This is a volcano out in the Cook Inlet that we were heading towards on our halibut trip

All of the Halibut were laid out with the bottom-side up?!?! Is that an Alaskan tradition or something?

We ate at Humpy's our first night there. I also munched out on caribou and reindeer burgers and reindeer Polish sausage as well as salmon jerky . And part took in many local ipas
