This happen on the Portland side facing IP pier. i was parked on the side of the road by the rocks, it was 8am Sunday. They were parked under the bridge when i first noticed them, i was watching them as they were leaving and they stoped in front of my Explorer so i made my out of the water from behind and could see someone inside of my truck, i guess the other guy was watching me when i was on land the other guy ran to the truck and they took off, funny thing is all they took was some CDs, i had a rod and reel and three boxes of lures. They were driving a blue Chevy ext cab p/u, it also had a chrome headache rack.

Scumbags. We don't have much choice but to leave our vehicles when we fish. I make sure I take every little thing of value out of my rig before I leave it. Pain in the butt, but no scumbag is going to get my stuff.

I've taken to carrying my Glock 23 with me in a waterproof case, just in case. Doesn't do any good in the console when a bad guy is in there, too.

How did they get in your truck? Do you have an alarm of some sort?

and its not just when you're fishing......they broke into my dad's truck yesterday (he's on vacation) and took both his checkbooks and a lot of tools from the back seat......the truck was parked and locked behind the house! I think they had the keys for my dad's truck when they got into mine, and found him.....

that's two vehicle breakins for our family in the past two months.......this $#!& is getting old.......

Does our new "Castle Doctrine" apply to vehicles? I can't help but think that if three or fourteen dirtballs get shot breaking into fishing trucks, it might slow down a little. Of course they'll just go back to breaking into the vehicles parked at the mall, local hotels, apt complexes and the CCPD's parking lot.

In my mind the new "Castle Doctrine" applies to anything that belongs to me. If some one else wants to steal it and I catch them. They just might have a problem.

IMS, dropping them off in nine mile hole would be like a vacation......maybe if they had a handicap, such as a hole in their leg it would be fun....

unfortunately, people that break into vehicles have nothing to lose.....they would come back and find you......

morning show, yes, the castle doctrine was extended to vehicles....unfortunatley, you have to catch them in the act......these people aren't totally stupid, they watch the scene.....these guys breaking into vehicles in the neighborhood know when you are at work or on vacaction.....they watched you grab your pole and walk way out in the flats........

when I go to work in the morning, I see guys walking around the neighborhood that don't look like they belong......as john q. citizen, I don't have the right to stop them and ask for ID, and while you're at it, WTF are you doing in my neighborhood......

security cameras would be about the only way to go.....

the crime level has been steadily rising in our city, is what the officer told me when I called to fill out the police report.....and no one is being caught......maybe a shooting or two would send a message, but you're right, would only be short term, and run them into different areas.......

hopefully the punks targeting me and my family will move on to greener pastures.......if I or we get hit again, there will be actions taken.......
