My sister and her husband were vacationing up in Colorado from New Jersey so Mary and I headed up there to spend some time with them. Along the way we stopped at their Rio De Los Pinos to do a little fishing. It's last day I got to fish before heading back to Corpus. Today I devoted all my time fly fishing and for the first 30 minutes or so fish were tempting me but they wouldn't take anything I presented to them.I Finally figured out what they wanted. I put on an Adams parachute dry fly with a copper John Barr dropper, catching six of these little guys. They all went between 11 and 13 in. Also had a number rise to hit my dry but couldn't hook them. This is the only one that took the dropper
This is what the Rio Grande looks like up in Alamosa Colorado. This is the Alamosa wildlife refuge and out beyond the river but you cannot see in the picture were three small herds of elk.

Great stories and pics Zia thanks.
On the lighter side at least you caught some bait to use when you get back. _________________ Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might. (Fishing is one of those things ) |
