I have a 6 yr old that is itching to fish. Was thinking of making a run tomorrow and catching the early boat across to fish the jetty. My first question (and it may be a dumb one) is if there was any shifting with the rocks from the hurricane. I know it has withstood much worse but I don't want to get across and have a disappointed little one.

Also curious if anyone has fished the rocks lately. We will probably stick with live bait and a popping cork and are hoping to catch a few trout to bring home. Anyone have any first-hand insight? Called Fishermans Wharf and the gal had no idea.

Thanks!

Folks have been going out there like Frederick Dunphy and posted catches of trout, oversized reds mostly at night, sheepshead, and flounder. I would expect more of the same. I hadn't heard of any jetty damage on the north side. The south side has lots of issues in that area next to the jetty north of Horace Caldwell.

I've been to the north jetty twice since the storm. Once last Oct during Irma and more recently during the middle of may. Some of the paved area has cracked and fallen down and last fall, there were some pieces that had flipped up on top of the walkway but I didn't see them last time. It's just as walkable as it was before but there may be tight areas if you have a big cart. I didn't notice any shifting of rocks.

Caught a bunch of bonita mid may from a kayak and people on the rocks were hooking jacks, reds, and shark. You could see the sheepshead and reds in the clear water on the gulf side near the point.

Both my trips in May had the concrete part blocked by two immovable rocks that prevented carts from going by without lifting them over or rolling them on granite to get around them. Some carts handle the granite path around without too much hassle, others not so much. The blockage is about halfway to the usual shark camp area.
