I'm very excited about moving back to Corpus at the end of the month. I really want to learn the Laguna Shores wading areas. Any recommendations on jighead size and colors to start using would be great. I'm a novice at throwing plastics but very excited to learn. I would prefer to go out with some of you if you are available. Thanks in advance.

Welcome back! Most soft plastic guys will tell you to use the lightest jighead you can to keep the bait in the strike zone longer. 1/32/, 1/16. 1/8.

For me it seems whenever I go into the Laguna with friends I bring all of the light stuff but then we want to dredge jigs along the ICW for flounder. For that bring 1/4 ounce or better if there is current.

The lighter the jig the better. In fact, if you can put together a rig that can throw unweighted lures. That's esp good for using over grass.

Thanks guys for the tips. How do you guys determine color for plastics? I've heard of match the hatch. I know shrimp, mullet, and shad\croaker do well. What is your preference for plastics?

Can't go wrong with pumpkin seed chartreuse. Seems to work and all kinds of water. When water is real dirty go to black. Super clean go with a clear or light color

huh....that's weird...when the water is dirty, I throw whites....when the water is clear I throw purples and blacks...

but, your first statement is dead-on; you can't go wrong with throwing pumpkin seed most of the time...

Go EARLY.
Use topwaters until they are no longer effective.
Then switch to shrimp imitators like DOA or Vudu.
SLOW with an occasional twitch.
Trout Support lures (Weed Walkers) are awesome and are the most weedless lure available. YouTube it.
