				| Nice! Im sure it will be very rewarding to catch on one you tied yourself. I am going to give it try soon. I have plenty of supplies just need to make time to try it out. | |

				| They are pretty rough looking but thank you. Same here Ive had the supplies from my best friends father since November. He is a retired Colonel he was doing this back in the 60s and 70s his boys didnt want it he also said it opens up a whole new world and set of skills. When they declined I jumped on it. My two oldest girls are in college I finally got them to get their stuff out of the garage and made room for my workbench. If you find a good mud minnow pattern let me know and post it. I think you will find it very rewarding and time better spent than on a smart device or the tv. Happy tying! _________________

				| those are edible flies.
The Medina is one of those cliche vodka-clear streams, where blend colors work best.
Around English crossing for white bass (in the old days, from Ruede's Camp), I've had best luck with flies that match the sandy bottom.

Tan marabou, tan or mustard chenille body, brown or rust wing.
Sorry, I don't have the exact colors here, but these count as blend colors for clear water.

Grey, greens and browns are all good clear water colors.

  - this one is tied on a tiemco 200R hook, size 10 little whistler above
 cats whisker below

for white bass, keep the tail short; i.e., keep the hook point as far back in the fly as you can.
for white bass, I also tie these on 2x-long size 10 hooks rather than 3x-long size 8 as just above

If you have your free hotlink fix allowing you to see old PB photos

and you learn to tie cat's whiskers, you will thank me, as has anyone else who learned to tie this pattern

Guadalupe tailrace stripers caught on all-grey size 4 cats whiskers

One day on the middle Guadalupe, down from Center Point Lion's Park, my tan/rust cats whisker brought up a cloud of minnows, and in both action and color, I couldn't tell the fly from the minnows.
White bass on green/grey, also down from Lion's Park
